Jupiter is by far the largest planet in our solar system. It accounts for three quarters of the accumulated planetary mass, yet it has only one thousandth of the solar mass. Counted from the inside out, it is the fifth planet. It is 5.2 times farther away from the sun than the earth. It takes just under 12 years to orbit the central star.
